The centerpiece of the film is the character of Ginny, played with impressive depth and nuance by Amy Steel. Unlike some of the other counselors, she's not simply a one-dimensional stereotype - she's a smart, capable woman with a troubled past, and she immediately takes charge in the face of danger. Steel brings a real sense of heart and intelligence to the role, and it's no surprise that she's become one of the most beloved heroines in slasher movie history. Without giving too much away, it's worth noting that the film's climax is a real standout, featuring an extended chase sequence that ranks among the best in the genre. The killer's identity is surprising and genuinely unsettling, and the final shots of the film are haunting and memorable. Of course, it's worth acknowledging that Friday the 13th Part 2 is not a perfect film. Like many horror sequels, it often feels like a retread of the first movie, with similar scares and set pieces.
