Clockstoppers

The NSA is supposed to be funding a down low project that is said to deal with hypertime. This is such a closely guarded secret that very few people actually know about it, far less, what it is supposed to do. Most of the technology is contained within a wristwatch, and if the buttons are pressed just right, everything around the user is placed at a standstill. The fact of the matter is that things are not really stopping, it is more of a situation where the watch bearer is speeding up. In addition, anyone touching the watch bearer will benefit from its capabilities, including the stopping of time. Dr. Earl Dopler (French Stewart) is working on the case, but there is one flaw with the clockstopper and that is the fact that the participant gets older when they use it. Dopler has sent the watch to Dr. Gibbs (Robin Thomas) in an attempt to have the problem resolved. His superiors have gotten wind of it, and are very upset by his actions, especially when they realize how much of a security breach it is. Dr. Gibbs has a convention to attend, and while he is away, his son Zak manages to put his hands on the watch, and uses it for his benefit. Zak has met a Venezuelan girl that he is interested in, and once they realize the full potential of the watch, they both decide that it can be used for a variety of reasons. Henry Gates (Michael Biehn) is in charge of overseeing the operation, and is also responsible for the return of the property. As soon as he realizes that the watch is in the hands of a civilian, he sets the wheels in motion to get it back. Jonathan Frakes directs this sci fi thriller, with supporting roles by Julia Sweeney as Jenny Gibbs, and Paula Garcés as Francesca.
