Obama's Prime Time Special

Obama's Prime Time Special is a half-hour primetime television advertisement that was broadcast on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 on CBS, NBC and MSNBC. The advertisement was the first of its kind in 16 years, since Ross Perot tried a similar stunt in 1992. The ad actually pushed back the start of a World Series baseball game by about 15 minutes, but networks still chose to air Barack Obama's closing argument, which cost a rumored five million dollars. The ad includes the final arguments for Obama's presidency, and part is filmed in Florida, a key state where Obama would have to secure votes in order to pull ahead in the election. The future president lays out his plans for his days in office in the show, which includes footage of Obama's appearance on Comedy Central's The Daily Show and a visit with former President Bill Clinton. In an unprecedented display, Obama finishes out his campaign with one of the most daring and expensive advertisements in political history. MORE
