Emily of New Moon was a television series that aired on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) for three seasons - from January 1998 to June 2000. Based on the novels by Lucy Maud Montgomery, the series followed Emily Star, an energetic young girl who is forced to live with her two aunts, Elizabeth and Laura, after the tragic death of her parents. Unfortunately for Emily, her aunts don't support a creative environment that she thrives in. Rather than give up, Emily decides to be true to herself, inspiring others around her to question the conformity and highlight the uniqueness inside all of us that makes us individually special. Filmed on beautiful Prince Edward Island, the producers chose to use local children as the main actors rather than actors in order to keep more true to the world that Lucy Maud Montgomery had created, herself being a native Canadian. Whether young or old, Emily of New Moon offers a great message, and is a series that should be caught by all.MORE
