Meet Joe Black is a movie about Bill Parrish (Anthony Hopkins), who in his old age is seeing visions of death- which turn out to be real, in the form of Death himself, who agrees to not take Bill for a little bit longer if Bill will serve as his guide on Earth as he takes on a host body and goes by the name of Joe Black (Brad Pitt). Little does Death know that he has taken the body of a man that Bill’s daughter Susan (Claire Forlani) has already met and developed an interest in, despite her upcoming wedding, which Bill is wary of as he wants his daughter to live a life full of passion. Ironically, Bill’s brush with Death helps him live out his last moments to the fullest, as he takes risks full of integrity in his business and spends more time with his family to fully appreciate them, taking his newfound companion Joe along for the ride, revealing him to the others in his life as a mysterious stranger. When Susan’s fiancé Drew (Jake Weber) turns out to be not who she thought he was, Joe is there to comfort her, as it was his presence that partially provoked Joe’s true nature. Little does Susan know that Joe isn’t who he seems to be either, and his time with her is as limited as her father’s.
