The World's Fastest Indian is a 2005 New Zealand film based on the real life experiences of speed bike racer Burt Monro, from Invercargill and his highly modified Indian Scout Motorcycle. The film starred Anthony Hopkins as Burt and was directed by Roger Donaldson. It is set in 1967 when Burt broke land speed records at 67 years old, zooming his bike across Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats. The film starts with Burt a local hero in his hometown for being featured in Popular Mechanics for having the fastest motorcycle in New Zealand and Australia. He travels by ship to the United States to compete in the Bonneville Speed Week in Utah.
