Dog Day Afternoon is the classic 1975 crime drama starring Al Pacino as a desperate Brooklyn bank robber who briefly became an anti-establishment folk hero. Based on a true story, the film follows Sonny Wortzik (Al Pacino) and his partner, Sal (John Cazale), bungle their attempt to rob a local bank, but soon find themselves holding the staff hostage. Police Captain Moretti (Charles Durning) surrounds the bank with cops and tries to convince the burglars to release the hostages. Over the course of the long hot summer night, the cops try to use Sonny's lover, Leon (Chris Sarandon), and his estranged wife, Angie (Susan Peretz), to convince Sonny to turn himself in.
