Sangharsh

Sangharsh is a Hindi movie directed by Tanuja Chandra and released in 1999. The movie stars Preity G Zinta, Akshay Kumar, and Ashutosh Rana in the lead roles.

The movie is a suspense thriller and revolves around the character of CBI officer Reet Oberoi played by Preity Zinta who is tasked with finding a serial killer who is terrorizing the city of Mumbai. The serial killer has already killed six children and Reet is determined to catch him before he strikes again.

The movie begins with the gruesome murder of a schoolboy in a park. Reet is assigned the case and she starts investigating the matter. The killer is called Lajja Shankar Pandey (played by Ashutosh Rana), a notorious criminal who has been convicted for several murders in the past. He is currently in jail but Reet is convinced that he is behind the recent murders. Reet starts interrogating Pandey but he refuses to cooperate. To make matters worse, Pandey threatens to kill Reet's family if she continues to pursue him.

Reet's investigation leads her to a child psychiatrist named Akhil (played by Akshay Kumar). Akhil had treated one of the murdered children and has some information that could help Reet solve the case. Akhil is reluctant to get involved but Reet manages to convince him to help her.

As Reet and Akhil get closer to the killer, they realize that he is not acting alone. There is another person involved who is helping Pandey carry out the murders. Reet and Akhil race against time to catch the killer before he strikes again.

The movie is a gripping thriller with a lot of suspense and tension. The performances are top-notch, especially that of Ashutosh Rana who plays the role of the serial killer with chilling conviction. His portrayal of a deranged psychopath is one of the highlights of the movie. Preity Zinta is also excellent as the determined CBI officer who is willing to go to any lengths to catch the killer. Akshay Kumar provides good support and his chemistry with Preity Zinta is one of the movie's strong points.

The movie also has some good music, with tracks like "Manzil Na De" and "Naraz Savera Hai" being particularly catchy. The cinematography is also top-notch, with the movie capturing the gritty atmosphere of Mumbai's underbelly.

Overall, Sangharsh is a well-made movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The plot is well-written and the performances are excellent. The only drawback of the movie is that it can get a bit too intense at times, but that's a minor quibble. If you're a fan of suspense thrillers, then Sangharsh is definitely worth a watch.
