It's a ritzy uptown space inhabited by wealthier roller skating aficionados, particularly a skilled and arrogant group known as "the Sweetwater Rollers". Tensions rise and an inevitable competitive battle begins between our heroes and their uptown counterparts, leading to a high-stakes roller disco competition that serves as the film's climax.

Nick Cannon plays the role of Bernard, an over-eager employee at the rink who offers comic relief while Wesley Jonathan plays Sweetness, the antagonist with slick moves and the reigning king of Sweetwater. Kellita Smith provides maturity and sophistication in the role of Vivian, a potential love interest for X’s dad. Meagan Good, playing the character Naomi, provides a romantic element as Xavier’s love interest, and their relationship beautifully unfolds to portray adolescence love and the courage to express one's feelings authentically.

Gracing the silver screen again, Mike Epps steals the show in his minor role as Byron, the neighborhood garbageman, creating laughter and merriment whenever he appears on screen.
