Kaappaan

Kaappaan is a 2019 Tamil-language action thriller movie directed by K. V. Anand and produced by Allirajah Subaskaran under the banner of Lyca Productions. The movie stars Suriya, Sayyeshaa Saigal, Arya, and Mohan Lal in the lead roles while Samuthirakani, Boman Irani and Chirag Jani appear in supporting roles. The music of the movie is composed by Harris Jayaraj.

The story of Kaappaan revolves around a Special Protection Group (SPG) officer named Kathir (Suriya) who is assigned to protect the Prime Minister of India Chandrakant Varma (Mohanlal) who is on a visit to Chennai. Despite his job being just a temporary assignment, Kathir soon realizes that there is a bigger threat to the Prime Minister's life than what he had anticipated.

Kathir realizes that there is a group of terrorists who are planning to kill the Prime Minister and uses his expertise and intelligence to protect him. Along with his team, including his friend and senior officer Raheem (Samuthirakani) and his love interest Anjali (Sayyeshaa Saigal), Kathir unravels a massive conspiracy that involves not only the terrorists but also corrupt government officials.

Meanwhile, Arya plays the role of Biju, a farmer who is struggling to make ends meet due to the government's negligence in providing basic facilities to farmers. He teams up with a group of farmers and protests against the government. However, things take an unexpected turn when Biju and his group get caught up in the conspiracy that Kathir is trying to unravel.

The movie has all the elements of a great action thriller - high-octane action scenes, thrilling car chases, and a nail-biting climax that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The movie also highlights important social issues like the neglect of farmers and the consequent agrarian crisis that has been plaguing the country for years.

Suriya delivers a power-packed performance as Kathir and his on-screen chemistry with Sayyeshaa is refreshing.
