Antboy

Antboy is a Danish superhero film that follows the journey of 12-year-old Pelle Nøhrmann (played by Oscar Dietz) who becomes a superhero after being bitten by an ant. The film is based on a novel of the same name by Kenneth Bøgh Andersen.

At the beginning of the movie, Pelle is an awkward and unpopular boy who gets bullied by the school jock, Wagner (played by Marcuz Jess Petersen). One day, while on a school field trip, Pelle is bitten by a genetically modified ant and gains superpowers. With the help of his best friend, Wilhelm (played by Samuel Ting Graf), who is a comic nerd, Pelle decides to become a superhero and takes on the alter-ego of Antboy.

Antboy's costume is made up of red overalls, black boots, gloves, and a mask with antenna poking out of it. He can climb walls, jump long distances, and has super strength. His first mission is to rescue the mayor's daughter, Ida (played by Amalie Kruse Jensen), from a group of kidnappers. With his powers and quick thinking, Antboy manages to save the day, and from that moment forward, he is recognized as a hero in his town.

However, Antboy soon realizes that being a superhero is not as easy as it seems. He has to keep his secret identity safe while attending school, deal with bullies, and face a supervillain known as The Flea (played by Nicolas Bro). The Flea is a former scientist who created the formula that turned Antboy into a superhero. He learns about Pelle's identity and plots to extract his powers for his evil purposes.

The movie's storyline is similar to many other superhero movies aimed at young audiences, but what sets Antboy apart is its take on the genre, which is distinctly Danish. The movie's setting is in a small Danish town that is clean, safe, and quiet — a stark contrast from the bustling metropolis where most superhero movies take place.
