Fiddler on the Roof is a 1971 musical about a Jewish family living in Russia at the turn of the 20th century. Tevye (Chaim Topol) is a milkman living in the town of Anatevka with his wife and five daughters. Though the family is not poor, Tevye must work hard to keep food on the table. He also struggles with the anti-Semitic attitudes of many of the townspeople and the fact that he must find a way to give his daughters adequate dowries when they marry. Tevya appears to get some good news when he successfully manages to marry off his daughter, Tzeitel (Rosalind Harris), to a rich butcher named Lazar Wolf (Paul Mann).
