Blessed and Cursed is a gospel musical drama film that was released in 2010. The plot revolves around Dwight Hawkins (Deitrick Haddon), a talented - yet arrogant - music minister who dreams of achieving fame and success, only to be brought down by his own pride and selfishness. His once-loving wife, April (Sheryl Lee Ralph), leaves him after discovering his extramarital affair with one of their church members, and his music career spirals downwards, leaving Dwight lost and broken.

Determined to make it big, Dwight signs a deal with a shady record executive named Bishop Taylor (Michael Kimbrew), who tricks him into forsaking gospel music and producing secular tracks that glorify worldly things. In his pursuit of success, Dwight loses sight of his true purpose, leading him down a path of destruction.

Meanwhile, his estranged wife begins to rediscover her faith and uses her musical talents to create a choir that is free-spirited and focuses on worship. Joining forces with other music ministers such as Ben (Connell Brown) and Angel (Keno Greer), April and her choir aim to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through their music and inspire others to seek redemption and forgiveness.

As the story progresses, Dwight's world crashes down around him as his dubious activities are exposed, and he is forced to confront his demons head-on. With the help of his father (Harry Lennix) and a new friend (Kierra Sheard-Kelly), Dwight realizes how far he has strayed from his faith and finds the strength to seek reconciliation with his loved ones and with God.
