Parichay

Parichay is a classic Bollywood movie that released in 1972. The movie starred Jeetendra, Jaya Bachchan and Pran Sikand in the lead roles. It was directed by Gulzar and produced by V.K.Sobti.

The story revolves around a spoilt, rich kid Ravi (Jeetendra) who lives with his mother and sister. He is brash, arrogant and lives life on his own terms. He causes a lot of trouble for his family and is thrown out of his house by his mother. He then comes across an old friend - Mr. Rai (Pran) who takes him under his wing.

Rai happens to be a school teacher and runs a school for underprivileged children. Ravi starts to work alongside Rai at the school, to help make a difference in the lives of the children. Here, he meets Shalini (Jaya Bachchan), another teacher at the school who he initially clashes with, but later falls in love with.

As Ravi spends more time at the school, he begins to understand the value of education and the power it holds to bring about positive change in society. He becomes more compassionate, empathetic and responsible. He makes a connection with the children at the school and gains a newfound respect for Rai.

The movie highlights the importance of education and its ability to transform people and society. It also deals with themes of self-discovery, redemption, and love.

Jeetendra gave an impressive performance as Ravi, portraying the character arc from a selfish and immature young man to a responsible and compassionate individual with ease. Jaya Bachchan also shines in her role as Shalini, who acts as a catalyst in Ravi's transformation.

Pran Sikand as Rai was commendable as well, and his guiding presence throughout the movie helped give a sense of direction to the story. The supporting cast comprising of A.K. Hangal, Asrani and Keshto Mukherjee also delivered noteworthy performances.

Gulzar's direction was on-point, and he managed to strike the right balance between the humour and the serious themes of the movie. The scenes at the school were heartwarming and captured the essence of the movie beautifully.

The music composed by R.D. Burman was also a highlight of the movie. The song Musafir Hun Yaron which plays during the end credits is still considered one of the best ever composed in Bollywood.

Overall, Parichay is a must-watch for anyone who appreciates a good story, great performances, and soulful music. The movie teaches valuable life lessons and is an exemplary example of how cinema can be used as a tool to educate and spread awareness.
