Based on true events, a small group of children and a mother had a close encounter of the third kind in 1952 in Flatwoods, West Virginia, with an alien that became known as "The Flatwoods Monster." The small town has never been the same since with the case receiving national attention. Decades later, a young woman named Carol James (Mandy June Simpson) makes a documentary about the Flatwoods Monster and ends up in hot water when she uncovers genuine alien footage. The Men in Black soon become aware she has obtained this precious evidence and are hot on her trail. Carol isn't alone, however, as she is aided by a mysterious inhuman who has a larger grasp of what is really going on in Flatwoods...
