Amanita Pestilens

A man in suburban Montreal cultivates his lawn to the point of obsession. He wins awards for its beauty which feeds his obsession to keep it pristine. He sees, to his horror, a fungus in the form of multiple mushrooms invading his lawn. As the man tries to eliminate the mushrooms, he has no success and the mushrooms take over his pristine lawn. He concentrates on repairing his lawn to the exclusion of all else in his life. A neighbor, who tries to help him, instead becomes the target of a confrontation. A twist gives hope the man will recognize his obsession and fix his life.
