100 Bloody Acres

100 Bloody Acres is an Australian horror-comedy film from 2012 that tells the story of Reg and Lindsay Morgan, two brothers who run a struggling organic fertiliser business in rural Queensland. The two siblings are not mere farmers, but they add dead bodies to their unconventional fertiliser mix, which proves to be highly effective. Reg, the more ambitious of the brothers, decides to mix his product with the remains of three young travelers who happen to cross their property.

The movie follows the events that unfold after Reg rescues the three travelers, Sophie, James, and Wesley, who become ensnared in the Morgans' plan. Sophie and James, who are on the way to a music festival, are given a lift by the Morgans, but their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere.

Reg comes to their aid and offers to drive them to the festival. However, on the way, he diverts to his farm, where they meet Lindsay, who puts them to work in the fertiliser production shed. Reg and Lindsay want to use the three travelers to test out their new fertiliser mix, as their previous batch didn't quite turn out as planned.

The tension gradually builds as the three travelers become increasingly suspicious of the Morgans. They try to find a way to escape the farm without alerting the brothers, but find themselves trapped on the property.

James, played by Oliver Ackland, is suspicious of the Morgans from the beginning, but he has a tricky time convincing Sophie, played by Anna McGahan, and Wesley, played by Jamie Kristian, of his suspicions. James is the only one who has seen through the Morgans' friendly façade and realises that something is terribly wrong. Meanwhile, the Morgans are trying to convince the travellers that they have nothing to fear, while secretly they begin to plot their demise.

The film is a perfect blend of horror and comedy, with the tension and gore counterbalanced by some well-timed humour. The Morgans are brilliantly acted, with Paul Blackwell giving a standout performance as the psychotic and unhinged Lindsay Morgan. Reg, portrayed by Damon Herriman, is the more laid-back and likeable brother, which offers an interesting counterpoint to Lindsay's craziness.

The film is notable for its use of practical effects, which makes the gore all the more convincing. The blood flows freely in this movie, and the makers don't skimp on the grisly details.

The movie raises some interesting questions about the ethics of organic farming, as well as the lengths people will go to make a quick buck. The Morgan brothers are portrayed as opportunistic and ruthless, but also as two people who are desperate to keep their business afloat. They are not your typical villains and their motivations are more complex than simple greed.
