You Wrote It, You Watch It is a sketch comedy show that ran on MTV in the early 1990’s. The show consisted of sketches written by viewers about their daily lives and sent in to MTV. The cast consisted of The State, then a comedy troupe at NYU. Soon after, they would be given their own MTV sketch show that would capture the attention of a new generation of comedy fans. The same would be the case for the Show’s host, Jon Stewart. 2 years later, Stewart developed his own talk show for the network, though wouldn’t find success in TV until he took over the Daily Show in 1999. He provided the only non-viewer material for You Wrote It, You Watch it, mostly introductions and in-between segments. The show only lasted for one season, Jon Stewart put it best when he said: “You wrote it, you just didn’t watch it.” In March 2010, every sketch from the show suddenly appeared on The State’s Vimeo Page.MORE
