Wuthering Heights is a two part, 180 minute, television series based on Emily Bronte's famous novel of the same name. Wuthering Heights is a tale of friendship, love, longing, and of the repercussions of social expectations that people must live with. The story follows the Earnshaw family and their two daughters Catherine and Hindley. When the family takes in an orphan, Heathcliff, from the mean streets of Liverpool everything changes. At first the Earnshaw daughters dislike and mistrust this outsider, but soon Catherine begins to develop a friendship with her foster brother Heathcliff. As they grow this friendship blossoms into love, and threatens to destroy both of these young lovers. Wuthering Heights is filled with stark portrayals of both mental and physical cruelty, but is considered by many critics to be one of Emily Bronte's best works.
