Wipeout is a reality competition television show on ABC in which daredevil individuals take on an almost obscenely ridiculous obstacle course, all with the hopes of emerging as the ultimate winner and taking home a sweet title and a nice price – $50,000. Each week twenty-four new contestants of all ages, shapes, sizes, and backgrounds come together to compete on the world’s largest extreme obstacle course. With obstacles like the pitch fork, the double cross, the blob, the smack wall sweeper, the fence flapper, pirate’s revenge, and the medieval wipeout, one really has to wonder what these gutsy contestants were thinking when they signed up.
