White Teeth

White Teeth is a 2002 English dramedy television series produced by Company Pictures and released in the United States by WGBH. A four-part adoption of Zadie Smith's novel, set in Britain in the 1960s, where zeitgeists begin to mingle and pollinate with varied instances. A. Jones is mulling taking his own life when he encounters Clara, who is fleeing an oppressive Jehovah's Witness mother. Meanwhile Samad has arrived in England to meet with his old war-friend Archie and to complete his arranged marriage. The two couples experience different facets of multi-cultural England and this differs from their children as the story follows the two generations across the years. The acting is quite good. Om Puri (Wolf, The Ghost and the Darkness) powers over everyone as Samad and is well used. Directed by Julian Jarrold (Becoming Jane, Kinky Boots, Brideshead Revisited, Great Expectations) and adapted by Simon Burke (Mystery!: Cadfael, Persuasion, NY-LON, The Guilty). MORE
