Washington Week With Gwen Ifill has the distinction of being the longest running primetime news and public affairs program on television. Of course, the show wasn't always hosted by Gwen Ifill. Original presenter John Davenport was with the show back when it was called Washington Week in Review in 1967. He was succeeded by Lincoln Furber, Max Kempelman, Robert MacNeil, Paul Duke, and Ken Bode before Ms. Ifill took over. The show begins with a brief recap of the biggest news stories of the week and is followed by a roundtable discussion, moderated by Ifill. Regular panelists include Charles Babington, a White House Correspondent for the Associated Press; Peter Baker, White House Correspondent for The New York Times; Dan Balz of The Washington Post; Joan Biskupic of USA Today, Gloria Borger of CNN; Pierre Thomas of ABC News, and many more. In 2008, Washington Week won a George Foster Peabody Award for its coverage of the historical presidential election and its special series of road shows in cities across the country. Washington Week With Gwen Ifill is produced by WETA-TV in Washington, D.C.MORE
