Wally Gator

Wally Gator is one of many classic Hanna-Barbera cartoons. The show originated in the early 1960's and plays on one of the most popular themes in the Hanna-Barbera line-up: an animal in captivity seeking to outsmart his caretaker. A Cajun alligator, Wally Gator, (voiced by Daws Butler impersonating Ed Wynn) frequently escapes the zoo in search of an exciting adventure. Unfortunately for Wally Gator, however, people outside the zoo don't fancy an alligator wandering the city streets and envision him as a handbag or snazzy pair of shoes. Wally's caretaker Mr. Twiddle (voiced by Don Messick) must stay on his toes to keep Wally safe in the zoo and from ending up as high fashion. Even though Wally Gator frequently longs for his free-wheeling days in the swamp, he does enjoy his leisurely zoo life, eating his specially prepared meals and avoiding danger. Over 50 episodes of Wally Gator were produced and can be seen on networks broadcasting vintage animation. MORE
