Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea

Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea is the ABC series created by Irwin Allen based on the film of the same name, which follows the Seaview, the world's only privately owned nuclear submarine, designed by Admiral Harriman Nelson (Richard Basebart) and led by Commander Lee Crane (David Hedison). The SSRN Seaview worked to do undersea oceanographic research, investigating the mysteries and dangers at the bottom of the sea. They are supported by the Nelson Institute of Marine Research in Santa Barbara, California, docking 500 feet below in a secret dock hidden in a rock. The crew often ends up in much more serious situations, having to fight against forces that threaten America and the world. Fighting against world-threatening earthquakes, aliens, sea monsters, dinosaurs, and hostile foreign governments. The show was a fantastical journey, introducing more sea monsters and even having a trip inside of a whale, and in the last two seasons even including mummies, werewolves, and lobster men to the large cast of paranormal threats.
