Vanity Fair is a six-part miniseries adaptation of William Makepeace Thackerary's 19th century novel that originally aired on BBC (British Broadcasting Channel) and is now available through the A&E Network. Made in 1998, the series follows the story of the manipulative and scheming Becky Sharp (Natasha Little), a beautiful, yet maniacal country girl who has managed to push her way to the very top of the British social hierarchy during the onslaught of the Napoleonic Wars. Unfortunately, along the way she managed to break hearts, betray friends, destroy people's credibility with each step. Despite her vigorousness she always seemed to come out on top of every situation. After facing herself, she began to change her ways and ended up spending the rest of her adult life as a beloved British Lady. While the series was not regarded as the best and most engaging adaptation of the story, it was certainly one of the largest and most expensive renditions to date. The series boasts an enormous cast of acclaimed British actors.MORE
