Vandread

Vandread is an anime series from Japan that is directed by Takeshi Mori that started in 2000. It was created by Gonzo and Media Factory Animation Studios. It lasted two seasons of thirteen twenty five minute long episodes. The show is set in a future where humans have colonized the entire galaxy. In one star system men and women have been entirely segregated to separate worlds. The women live on the planet Mejere and the men live on planet Taraak. The war between the sexes has become literal in this show! The main male protagonist is Hibiki Tokai, a third class laborer who takes up a bet to steal a humanoid robot called Vanguard from a male attack force battleship that is planning to fight the females on Mejere. Hibiki gets stuck on the spaceship as it takes off and finds himself trapped in a battle with female space pirates. The whole crew of the ship evacuates, save for Hibiki and a few others. The battle opens up a worm hole that sends the spaceship and everyone on it into a distant part of the galaxy. In the wormhole both ships fuse together, as does the Vanguard and some of the female fighters. The android/fighter fusion is called a Vandread. MORE
