Utopia One

Utopia One is a series of experimental shorts that celebrates Julian Dahl. Dahl is widely known for his film "Camjackers," a story of a group of inner-city youths who steal film equipment and use it to create a documentary about the underground hip-hop movement. In fact, the trailer for Dahl's film is the first short included in this collection. Each short included is as experimental and bold in its approach. The short "Insects" won Best Experimental Short at South by Southwest in 2001 after arousing much excitement among critics. Other films in the collection are "Falling," "Puppy Love," "Stream," "Alien Baby," and "Go." Although each of Dahl's shorts is unique, there seems to be a thread that ties them all together. The Studio that produced Utopia One allowed it to travel to all the major film festivals, but never released the collection in the states. This is the first time these groundbreaking shorts are available to American audiences. MORE
