Ugly Betty

Ugly Betty follows Betty Suarez, an upbeat eager graduate of Queens College armed with braces and thick glasses, ready to jump head-first into the publishing world. Betty (played by America Ferrera) thinks she's got what it takes to get her foot in the door at one of New York City's top magazines. Little does she know what's in store for her when Bradford Meade, powerful Manhattan publishing mogul, makes her first assistant to his son Daniel (Eric Mabius), the new editor-in-chief at Mode Magazine (a high-fashion publication). The show follows Betty's struggles at Mode as she tries to be adapt to the fashion world, befriend Daniel, and avoid perpetual torment from the catty duo of assistants, Amanda (Becki Newton) and Marc (Michael Urie). The contrast of Betty's home life in Queens, consisting of a loving father Ignacio (Tony Plana), sister Hilda (Ana Ortiz) and nephew Justin (Mark Indelicato) serves as her support system and motivation, as she works hard to make their lives better as well. But the drama never ends at Mode, with Vanessa Williams as Wilhelmina Slater serving as Daniel and Betty's main foil, as she plots to overtake the Meade Publication empire. Ugly Betty on ABC is an Emmy-nominated series that ran for four seasons (2006-2010) and has received widely positive support both domestically and abroad. MORE
