Treme

Treme is an HBO TV drama from creator David Simon that takes place in post-Katrina New Orleans. The series centers on the artists, music, and fans of the New Orleans music scene. New Orleans has been host to some of the most vibrant and culturally significant music movements the world has ever known. After Hurricane Katrina violently destroyed so much of the city, the musicians returned to their broken homes to rebuild their lives in the only city that understands them. The series boasts a talented cast of actors, many of whom are New Orleans natives. Wendell Pierce plays trombonist Antoine Batiste, and Clarke Peters plays the troubled Mardi Gras Indian chief, Albert Lambreaux. Kim Dickens plays struggling chef Janette Desautel, and Steve Zahn plays the passionate and typically outraged Davis McAlary. David Simon previously created the acclaimed HBO series The Wire, which covered the many afflictions of the city of Baltimore. In Treme, he turns his attention toward another of America's celebrated and heavily-flawed cities. MORE
