Tracey Takes On...

Tracey Takes On is a sketch comedy show that aired on HBO from 1996 to 1999. The series was created by comedian Tracey Ullman and Allan McKeown. The format of Tracey Takes On revolved around a multitude of characters (both male and female, young and old) developed and performed by Ullman. Each episode covered a general topic such as charity, death, and music, with Ullman's creations offering their two cents on the topics. Some of the characters include Ruby Romaine, a seventy-two year old makeup artist; Fern Rosenthal, a Jewish homemaker; Janie Pillsworth, an England born, New York fashion magazine editor; Trevor Ayliss, a gay airline steward; Chic, a Middle Eastern cab driver; and Mrs. Noh Nang Ning, the Asian donut shop proprietor. Tracey Takes On also featured multiple guest stars, including Hugh Laurie, Tobey Maguire, Giovanni Ribisi, Jon Favreau, and Dan Futterman. Tracey Takes on won eight Emmy Awards during its run, including the 1997 prize for Outstanding Music, Comedy and Variety Show. MORE
