Tool Academy

VH1’s Tool Academy is a reality competition show where girlfriends and wives enroll the men in their lives, who just so happen to be total tools, in the Tool Academy. Self- obsessed guys show up expecting to compete to be the hottest guy in America, but are surprised to find out that their competition is actually about becoming a better guy on the inside. These lying, cheating, shallow boyfriends and husbands will have to endure the training of the Tool Academy if they don’t want to end up alone. The tools learn lessons on values necessary to create a loving relationship, like honesty, fidelity, humility, trust, and commitment, and must apply what they’ve learned in challenges, usually cooperatively with the woman who nominated them. Students who fail to truly absorb these traits and properly apply them are eliminated, and then their girlfriends must decide- will they stick by their tool, or will they leave him alone on the podium? The competition is paired with group couples therapy with counselor Trina Dolenz, who helps them understand why they act the way they do and also plays a part in deciding which contestants will be eliminated. As these guys hope to become better partners, they are also competing for a prize $100,000, but they all learn the lesson that self-improvement isn’t something you can fake at the Tool Academy. MORE
