TMZ on TV is the television version of TMZ.com or TMZ online, all of which provide news focused on celebrities and what they're up to or what's going on in their personal lives. Often, TMZ's information comes from their personal paparazzi and videographers interacting with the celebrities themselves and "catching them in the act" of their latest scandal. The format of the show is atypical of a news program, instead of anchors reporting and commenting on news pieces, TMZ shows clips or pictures with an announcer delivering the story, and in-studio segments are taped at TMZ's offices during staff meetings, where the staffers deliver and comment on the story themselves. Often the stories are meant to be humorous and poke fun at celebrities, although more serious or tragic events are treated more delicately. TMZ follows the most popular of celebrities, they were among the first to report Michael Jackson's death, and they constantly follow those who gain a lot of media attention, like Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Octomom, and Lady Gaga, though in competition with other celebrity gossip outlets like Perez Hilton and X17.
