The Wiggles is a children’s television show on ABC, in which each episode is almost more like a song-and-dance concert for pre-schoolers than an actual television show. The Wiggles is an Australian children’s musical group that formed in Sydney, Australia in 1991. Their eccentric dance styles—from which they got their band name—as well as their brightly colored garments and catchy, up-beat songs quickly attracted a large fan-base among the loyal pre-school crowd. With such a large fan base, in and out of Australia, it was the logical next step to make a television show. In the show, Sam Moran is the Yellow Wiggle, Anthony Field is the Blue Wiggle, Murray Cook is the Red Wiggle, and Jeff Fatt is the Purple Wiggle. The four sing and wiggle their way through each episode, much to the delight of their fans. Although the main attracting factor of the show are the performances, there are also story-telling elements in each show that are just right for the target audience of young children.
