The War is an epic documentary miniseries that follows the United States’ involvement in World War II. Produced by Ken Burns, the creator of other classics such as Baseball and The Civil War, The War took over six years to make, and is told through seven two-hour-long segments, originally airing on PBS. As with many of his other films, in The War Ken Burns chose to tell both the broad story of World War II as well as individual accounts, giving the documentary a personal voice. The four US towns that Burns chose to highlight are Louverne, Minnesota, Mobile, Alabama, Sacrameno, California, and Waterbury, Connecticut. The documentary recounts a number of experiences from individuals and families that lived in these communities, capturing the details from all three of the major theaters in the war: the Pacific, the African, and the European. Whether you’re a history buff or not, The War is a compelling miniseries that all will enjoy.MORE
