The Underdog Show is an animated tv series following the adventures of simple dog named Shoeshine Boy and his alter-ego, superhero UnderDog. When the classy reporter Sweet Polly Purebred is in trouble, "There's no need to fear, Underdog is here!" Shoeshine Boy enters the nearest phone booth, and reappears as Underdog (an homage to superman), the only one who can save the city and damsels in distress, all the while speaking in rhyming couplets. Underdog's superpowers include flying, super strength, x-ray vision, ultrasonic hearing and a calculating brain. A superpower he doesn't have is restraint, as saving the day often results in destruction to nearby buildings. A recurring gag also shows him crashing into something as he tells onlookers that it is not a bird or a plane in the sky, but Underdog, here to save the day!
