The Story of India, presented by the celebrated historian Michael Wood, is a documentary series focusing on the rich and colorful history of India. There are 6 episodes (each 60 minutes) in all which cover the 10,000-year history of the Indian subcontinent, right from the start of one of the earliest human civilizations, the Indus Valley Civilization, to the liberation and the partition of India. Wood travels to many locations in India, examining the diversity of its people, its exotic culture and its spectacular sceneries. He presents archaeological and historical evidence, interviews other renowned archaeologists and chats with the local people to tell the tale of the history of India. The first episode focuses on the Harappan civilization and the presenter's efforts to recreate Soma, considered by many to be the Indian equivalent of Ambrosia. The following episodes transition the focus to spice trade, the Golden Age of India, the Mughal empire and finally the Freedom Struggle against the British. Being one of the few documentaries to focus on the history of India, it is fun and interesting to watch.MORE
