The Shield

The Shield is the FX crime drama created by Shawn Ryan that follows an experimental division of the Los Angeles Police Department called the Strike Team. The team works in the fictional Farmington district of LA, operating out of a converted church they call the Barn. The neighborhood is ravaged by drugs and gangs, and the elite Strike Team has to operate on their own rules to bring justice to the streets. Lead by the volatile and unethical officer Vic Mackey (Michael Chiklis), the four-man anti-gang unit uses illegal, unethical, and violent methods to maintain peace on the streets. Planting drugs, framing, and coercing confessions are just some of the techniques the Strike Team uses, and the crooked cops even earn money through robbery and drug protection schemes. Joining Vic are Detective Shane Vendrell (Walton Goggins), Vic's reckless best friend; Detective Curtis "Lem" Lemandksy (Kenny Johnson), who's conscience pits him against the Strike Team; and Detective Ronnie Gardocki (David Rees Snell), the electronics and surveillance expert of the team.
