The Secret Life of the American Teenager

The Secret Life of the American Teenager is a show from ABC family starring Shailene Woodley as Amy Juergens, a teenager who must deal with her unexpected pregnancy, with the help of her sister Ashley (India Eisley), her boyfriend Ben Boykewich (Ken Baumann), and her parents, George and Ann (Mark Derwin and Molly Ringwald). Her situation also affects the boy who got her pregnant, Ricky Underwood (Daren Kagasoff), and other students at her high school, from the girl with the bad reputation, Adrian Lee (Francia Raisa), to the sweet Christian girl, Grace Bowman (Megan Park). The show follows the Juergens family as they deal with Amy's pregnancy and how it changes their dynamic, as well as how it affects her friends and peers. Ashley helps Amy decide to keep the baby, and Ben supports her despite the fact that it isn't his baby. Ricky, a "bad boy," decides to take responsibility for his actions and be supportive. When Amy's secret becomes public, she finds that she isn't the only one in school with a secret, and the students grow and learn from each other. Amy's pregnancy, aside from helping the people around her learn acceptance, also brings her family back together after her dad has an affair and gets kicked out of the house.
