The Sarah Jane Adventures is a British science fiction series spun off from the classic BBC series Doctor Who Created by Russell T. Davies, the series stars Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith. An investigative journalist and former companion of The Doctor, Sarah Jane is joined by a gang of teenagers getting to the bottom of strange happenings. She is joined by her neighbor, Maria Jackson (Yasmin Paige), her adopted son Luke (Tommy Knight), and Clyde Langer (Daniel Anthony). Sarah Jane must balance taking care of these children, reporting on strange occurrences, and often times fighting to survive global alien invasions. The show shares many qualities with the Doctor Who universe off which it was spun, including Sarah Jane having her own sonic screwdriver which she refers to as "sonic lipstick" (which is "useless as a lipstick"). As well as featuring many aliens from the Doctor Who series such as the Slitheen, and the Sontarans. Sarah Jane is considered by the majority of Doctor Who fans as the most popular of his companions.
