The Rockford Files

The Rockford Files is a dramatic television series originally airing on NBC in September of 1974 for 6 years and starring James Gardner as James Scott Rockford. The story is a simple but a never-the-less flawless captivating scenario: the maverick modern detective. Rockford has just spent five years in prison for a robbery he didn't commit, now, with a pardon, he spends his days as an expensive private detective who plays by his own easy going rules and answers to nobody. He works alone and only on closed criminalized cases. Despite many of the other members of this genre, he's a better talker than he is a fighter and rarely uses a gun by choice. Another thing that makes the charming Detective Rockford different, he lives in a trailer on the side of the road. As you can probably tell Rockford isn't your normal everyday gritty detective, and that's why we love it. The hit show also spawned 8 made-for-TV movies and a 2010 remake that was very short lived.
