The Real Ghostbusters

The Real Ghostbusters is an animated action/comedy show based on the smash hit movie “Ghostbusters.” It ran from September 13th, 1986 to October 22nd, 1991 on ABC and was created by the writers and stars of the film, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. The cartoon picks up right where the movie leaves off, following the continuing misadventures of Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Egon Spengler, Winston Zeddemore, and Dr. Ray Stanz. They are assisted by their secretary, Janine Melnitz, and later by accountant Louis Tully. Slimer, while a comedic villain in the film, joined the Ghostbusters cast as a kind of mascot. Together, the team traveled through New York and the world, busting all kinds of out-of-control spirits (even the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man a few times). The “Real” in “The Real Ghostbusters” was added after Filmation sued the show as their show “Ghost Busters” began airing five days before “Ghostbusters” premiered. MORE
