The Prisoner (2009)

The Prisoner (2009) is a miniseries that aired on AMC in 2009. Written by Bill Gallagher and directed by Nick Hurran, The Prisoner is a remake of a television series from the 1960s of the same name. A man (James Caviezel), who is referred to as 6 throughout the series, wakes up in a desert with no memory of his previous life or how he arrived there. Eventually he finds a community that the inhabitants refer to only as The Village. The Village's leader, 2 (Ian McKellen), tries to get 6 to assimilate to his life in The Village, but 6 has brief memories of a very different life before the desert. He struggles to remember his past while seeking out others like him, who he calls the dreamers. Does 6 ever learn more about his life before The Village, or can 2 successfully get him to follow his commands? The Prisoner miniseries was produced by AMC and ITV and aired in England in 2010. The original Prisoner television show starred Patrick McGoohan and, although it has a similar premise, shares few story lines as the 2009 miniseries. MORE
