The Newlywed Game

The Newlywed Game is a game show originally airing on ABC and hosted by Bob Eubanks. The premise of the show is to have new couples compete against each other to see which pair knows the most about each other. Couples were allowed to compete only if they had been married for less than two years. The winners would receive a grand prize, which could range from appliances to vacations. In the first round, the husbands had to answer three questions and their answers were compared to their wives answers later in the game. The second round was the same, except that the wives has to answer first. The second round also featured the 25 point bonus question, which would give the couple extra points if their answers matched. If there was a tie at the end of the game, the couples would compare their guesses at how many points they would receive that they had made before the show started taping that day. The winner of that competition would be the winner of the episode. Questions ranged from detailed knowledge about the spouse offstage to questions about their marriage. The most famous questions involved, as Bob Eubanks coined, "making whoopie." The Newlywed Game was reinvented in 1996 with host Gary Kroeger and again for the Game Show Network (GSN) in 2009 with host Carnie Wilson. MORE
