The New Dick Van Dyke Show

The New Dick Van Dyke Show is the reinvention of the classic sixties CBS sitcom with legendary physical comedy funny man Dick Van Dyke. Originally created by Carl Reiner, Mary Tyler Moore, and Van Dyke himself , the success of the first show urged CBS and Reiner to do another one in 1971. Hungry to get Van Dyke on board, CBS agreed to move the entire production to Arizona, where he had been living. The new premise has Van Dyke play a local television talk show host named Dick Preston. It followed a similar format to the original show and portrayed the troubles of Dick's work and family life as a married man to wife Hope Lange, and father to daughter Angela Powell. The show lasted three seasons and ended with a rift between creator Reiner and CBS over censorship. Also starring Fannie Flagg, David Doyle, Marty Brill, and Nancy Dussaull. MORE
