The Most Extreme is a long-running television documentary series that began airing on Animal Planet in 2002. Made by Natural History New Zealand, the series focuses on the world’s most extreme animals in a count-down style format, reminiscent of VH1’s top 10 music videos countdowns—only with super-power animals. Each episode focuses on a specific feature and then takes a look at the animals that are most extreme in that characteristic. The characteristics featured vary widely, from speed, to strength, to flirtation, to diet, to appendages, and so on. How far can a rabbit really jump? Is a vulture deadly and, if so, why? How fast can a caterpillar gain weight? What are the craziest things that a shark can take a bite out of? Those questions are only skimming the surface as far as what the show covers is concerned and, to make an interesting topic even more interesting, the presenters compare each extreme animal to a human and its abilities through a digital system presented in each episode. Tune in to Animal Planet’s The Most Extreme to be astounded.MORE
