The Melancholy of Haruchi-chan Suzumiya is an anime series and a spinoff of the popular show The Melancholy of Haruchi Suzumiya. The original series was based upon a schoolgirl named Haruchi Suzumiya and her ability to unconsciously change the reality around her. With the help of her friends Yuki Nagato, Mikuru Asahina, and Itsuki Koizumi, as well as the mean outsider Kyon, these five form a group known as the SOS Brigade. Haruchi-Suzumiya comes to learn that her friends are actually a group of special agents that were sent by different organizations in order to help her master her power and lead a normal life. In the spinoff, Haruchi-chan Suzumiya, the entire group is back and the series is given a more comedic tone, full of jokes and gags.
