The Maxx

The Maxx is the MTV animated show from the Oddities program, based on the Image comic book series created by Sam Kieth. The series follows The Maxx, as he exists as a homeless vagrant living in a box in the real world, but also exists in an alternate reality called The Outback. In The Outback, The Maxx becomes a hero, the powerful protector of The Jungle Queen, who also exists as social worker Julie Winters in the real world. Julie was beaten and raped, and copes by hiding in her Outback, a place in her subconscious where she has control and becomes the goddess Leopard Queen. When she hits a homeless man in her car, she covers the body and links him to The Outback, erasing his memories and connecting the two, transforming him into The Maxx. Mr. Gone is a serial killer with a telepathic link to Julie, and has access to people's Outbacks, and clashes with the Maxx in the real world and Outback. A depressed teenager named Sarah comes to Julia for counseling, and the action focuses on her and a giant slug named Lago from her Outback, which is on a mission to kill both her and Julie. The strange world of the Outback has the masked and clawed hero The Maxx fighting against villains like Lago and Mr. Gone, as well as the Outback creatures called the Isz. The mind bending series features action and ever changing animation styles, which some scenes being cartoonish, and with some being dark and even live-action. MORE
