The Legend of Guan Gong is a 2004 Chinese historical drama series about the life of General Guan Yu (Wang Yingquan). Set in the 14th century at the end of China's Han period, the series follows the life of Guan Yu, from young man to provincial governor, and shows why he became such an important historical figure to the Chinese. With the historical document "The Records of the Three Kingdoms" as a source for much of its material, The Legend of Guan Gong hits predominantly on four important events from Guan Yu's life - the Oath of the Peach Garden, the slaying of six generals, the lonely banquet, and the last Battle of General Yu. The language of this series is Mandarin Chinese, but an English subtitled version has been released by Image Entertainment. A total of 28 forty-six minute episodes where produced.
