The Last Enemy

The Last Enemy which was created for PBS, stars Benedict Cumberbatch (Atonement) as Stephen Ezard, a man who returns to London after living abroad to find himself living in a police state reminiscent of the Orwell novel 1984. As he takes a government job to investigate his brother Michaels' death, he begins to uncover things about his brother he never knew including a now widowed wife named Yasmin (Anamaria Marinca) among a series of secrets about his late brother. As Stephen digs deeper using a government database he finds himself under investigation by a rogue agent (Robert Carlyle, The Full Monty). When Stephen stumbles upon an international conspiracy he soon finds that all-seeing and menacing attention of the surveillance obsessed government has turned upon him. The Last Enemy is written by Peter Berry (Prime Suspect 6). The Last Enemy is an exciting trip through the paranoia and politics of a futuristic Orwellian society. MORE
