The L Word

The L Word is a drama series on Showtime about Jenny Schecter (Mia Krishner), a writer who moves to Los Angeles to be with her boyfriend Tim (Eric Mabius) and becomes intertwined in the lives of her next door neighbors, long-term lesbian couple Bette Porter (Jennifer Beals) and Tina Kennard (Laurel Holloman) and their circle of lesbian, bisexual, and transgender friends. Bette and Tina are struggling to conceive a child as they search for the right sperm donor. Their friends include closeted tennis player Dana (Erin Daniels), bisexual journalist Alice Pieszecki (Leisha Hailey), hairstylist Shane McCutcheon (Katharine Moennig) and owner of local hangout the Planet, Marina Ferrer (Karina Lombard), who holds a particular intrigue for Jenny. In addition to complicated relationships and blurred lines of sexuality, the group also deals with family problems, friendships, and life in West Hollywood. Other key characters included Pam Grier as Kit, Bette's alcoholic sister, love triangle catalyst Carmen de la Pica Morales (Sarah Shahi), and the uncommonly seen in television transgender individual in the process of transitioning, Moria/Max Sweeney, played by Daniela Sea.
